Andrei: Everyone put in a tremendous amount of effort, and we successfully showcased our training results to the fans.

Wolves midfielder Andre said Friday night's match made him deeply appreciate the positive atmosphere built between the team and the fans. He believes that maintaining close ties between players and supporters is crucial, and this united environment will be an important foundation for Wolves to achieve better results in the new season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers achieved a satisfying result in their first official match of the new season, defeating Port Vale at Molineux Stadium to advance to the next round of the League Cup. The home stands were filled with enthusiasm that night, as fans witnessed their team score three goals, welcomed back Raul Jimenez, and, most importantly, secured their first victory of the new season.

Next, Wolves will host Blackburn Rovers at Molineux Stadium this week in their opening Championship match of the 2026/27 season. Andre scored his first goal of the season in the last League Cup match against Port Vale, and he hopes the team can carry the confidence from that victory and be in better form for the league opener.

After the match, Andrei said, "I really enjoyed this game. We put in a lot of effort and time throughout the preseason, and every player should be happy to win this official match. Our overall performance in the preseason was very good, both in daily training and warm-up matches. Everyone put in a lot of hard work, and today we showed those results to the fans. Going forward, we must stay focused, continue to work hard, and keep improving."

"Winning the first game of the season is very important because the League Cup is also a competition we take very seriously. It's certainly gratifying to win, but we can't let our guard down because we have a tough game waiting for us on Friday. We must stay focused, put more effort into training, and make adjustments to address the problems that surfaced in the game, so as to continue our winning streak in the next match."

Speaking about his goal, Andrei was very excited, saying, "I'm really happy. It's a wonderful feeling, and it's certainly a good thing to score a goal. Although I'm not a player who scores often, I'm very happy as long as I can help the team and my teammates through my performance. My purpose in coming here is to do my best to help my teammates and the team."

“Now the head coach wants me to take on more responsibility on the defensive end, including actively participating in blocking shots. I was in the right position at the time and finally seized the opportunity to score. I probably celebrated seven times after scoring because I was just so happy at that moment.”
