Dwight McNeil has joined Crystal Palace and signed a four-year contract with the club.

Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Dwight McNeil, the 26-year-old winger, from Everton to Selhurst Park on a four-year contract. Born in Rochdale, McNeil was initially a product of Manchester United's youth academy before joining Burnley's youth system, where he gradually showcased his attacking talent.  

During his time at Burnley, Dwight McNeil developed rapidly with consistent and impressive performances, and became a member of the Premier League after turning 18. Prior to that, he was named Burnley's Youth Player of the Year, and subsequently received calls-ups to the England U20 and U21 teams, making a total of 10 appearances for England U21.  

During his time at Burnley, Dwight McNeil made 147 appearances for the team, contributing 7 goals and 17 assists. His consistent performances led to a new phase in his career in 2022 when he officially transferred to Everton. In his first season with Merseyside, he won the Everton Young Player of the Year award.  

Since joining Everton, Dwight McNeil has maintained a consistent attacking output. Before leaving the team, he had made 128 appearances for Everton in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 19 assists.  

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said of the new signing: "I am very happy that we have finally been able to bring Dwight McNeil to South London. He has already proven himself in the Premier League, and I look forward to seeing him in a Crystal Palace shirt at Selhurst Park."  

After officially joining Crystal Palace, Dwight McNeil said in his first interview with the club: "I am very happy to be a part of this team and I can't wait to take on new challenges. The team has achieved good results in the past two seasons, and I look forward to joining my new teammates as soon as possible and working together in training and striving for the future."

Dwight McNeil has a rather interesting history of playing against Crystal Palace. In September 2024, he scored two goals in his last match against Crystal Palace for Everton, helping his team to victory, so his previous performances against this team have been quite impressive.  

Dwight McNeil, whose role has now changed, is already looking forward to wearing the Crystal Palace jersey and facing his home fans at Selhurst Park. He said with a smile, "I really can't wait. It's very special for me. I've always enjoyed playing against Crystal Palace, especially when we play at Selhurst Park."  

"Looking back now, it's quite amazing. Back when I was their opponent, I even enjoyed hearing them score because I've always loved the song the fans sing after a goal. To be honest, it's probably one of my favorite football cheers, so I'm really looking forward to playing against them now."  

When asked what he could bring to the team, Dwight McNeil smiled and said, "I think my left foot is pretty good! My left foot is definitely an advantage. I hope to influence the game through my performance and create as many goals and assists as possible. Of course, I will also pay attention to my performance off the ball, running actively and participating in defense, which has always been my strength."
