Racing Club de Santander announced on its official website on Tuesday that they have signed Athletic Bilbao's Spanish goalkeeper Julen Aguirrezabala.

According to Racing Club de Santander's official statement, Aguirrezabala has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031. He will wear the number 13 jersey.

About Julen Aguirrezabala

The 25-year-old Aguirrezabala was born on December 26, 2000, in Errenteria, Basque Country, Spain. He is 1.87 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Aguirrezabala joined the youth academies of local non-league clubs in the Basque Country from a young age, and in 2018 joined Athletic Bilbao's youth academy.

The following summer, Aguirrezabala began playing for Athletic Bilbao's satellite team, Basconia. In November 2020, he started playing for Athletic Bilbao B, before completing his Athletic Bilbao first-team debut in August 2021.

In August 2025, Aguirrezabala was loaned-out to Valencia. During his time there, he helped the team reach the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey.

During his five-year spell at Athletic Bilbao, Aguirrezabala made 65 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions, conceding 56 goals and keeping 28 clean sheets, where he has also helped the team win one Copa del Rey title.
