Manchester City's new summer signing, Elliot Anderson, has officially made his debut with the team.
During the "Manchester City Returns" open training session held at Joey Stadium on Thursday, the young midfielder wearing the number 5 jersey gave his first interview to the fans, expressing his excitement about joining Manchester City.
Anderson, who had just finished his World Cup campaign with the England team, rushed to the team after a short rest. When talking about his feelings about joining the team, Anderson excitedly said: "Although the holiday after the World Cup was short, I am very happy to be here and start to get familiar with the team's tactics."
“I mentioned to my family before that it feels amazing to be teammates with these top players instead of opponents, and I’m now working hard to adapt and integrate into the team.”
Head coach Enzo Maresca has recently spoken with Anderson during training and clarified his role in the tactical system. Anderson commented in an interview, "I've had some discussions with the head coach these past few days."
“My job as a midfielder is to bring composure and calm to the team and do my best to help every teammate on the field. My core goal right now is to inspire the fans with outstanding performances, attract them to the stadium to cheer me on, and help the club win more games.”
Manchester City will face Arsenal in Cardiff on August 16th (UK time) for the 2026 Community Shield. Anderson is expected to make his official debut for Manchester City at that match.
