Hull City announced on their official website on Thursday that they have signed Colorado Rapids' Australia international defender wonderkid Lucas Herrington.
According to Hull City's official statement, Herrington has signed on a longt-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.
After completing his transfer procedures, Herrington, who was interviewed by the Hull City official website for the first time, said: "I'm incredibly excited to be here. It's a fantastic project, and I feel incredibly honored to be a part of this great club. I'm absolutely thrilled."
"The opportunity to play in the Premier League — one of the best leagues in the world —is a dream come true. Back in Australia, I often woke up before dawn to watch games. Being a part of it feels so special."
"I'm thrilled to hear feedback from the club and coaching staff. I can't wait to meet all my teammates and fans. I will train hard and hope to get plenty of playing time in the Premier League."
"I spoke with Jackson Irvine (former Hull City Australia international midfielder), and he raved about the club and the area. He really enjoyed his time here. Hearing him say that after playing alongside him at the World Cup made me feel very reassured."
"Being able to represent my country at the World Cup was a dream come true for me – it's always been my dream. Achieving this dream at 18 is incredibly meaningful, and having my family cheering me on from the stands made it even more exciting."
"I'm really looking forward to my first game against Manchester United. I can't wait to get started."
