After experiencing consecutive playoff setbacks, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has shown a strong desire to win.

During a recent interview in Manila, Edwards confidently stated that the Timberwolves, after their offseason rebuild, have the absolute strength to defeat the two Western Conference powerhouses that have dominated them in recent years: the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs.

In the past two seasons, the Timberwolves have shown championship competitiveness, but they lost to the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals in 2025 and were eliminated by the Spurs led by Wernbane and Yama in the second round this year.

In order to break through the ceiling, the Timberwolves decisively started a rebuilding process during the offseason: they traded away their second-leading scorer Julius Randle and versatile center Naz Reed, among others, and completed a blockbuster trade to bring in All-Star guard LaMelo Ball, who formed a highly dominant new generation backcourt duo with Edwards.
