Odegaard: We must be proud of our performance.

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard said in an interview that although Arsenal missed out on the Champions League title, his teammates should be proud of this incredible season and performance.

In the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League final, Arsenal equalized after Havertz scored an early goal assisted by Trossard, but Dembele equalized in the second half with a penalty.

With the score still tied after regulation time, the match went to penalties for a more exciting contest. In the first round, Gonzalo Ramos and Dzekeresh both scored. In the second round, Due scored, while Eze's penalty went wide. In the third round, Nuno Mendes' penalty was saved by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, while Rice scored.

In the fourth round, Achraf Hakimi and Martinelli both scored from their penalties. In the fifth round, Lucas Berardo scored a penalty, but Gabriel missed his own.

Ultimately, Arsenal lost 3-4 to Paris Saint-Germain in a penalty shootout, missing out on the Champions League title.

Norwegian star Martin Ødegaard said, "Everyone is definitely in a lot of pain, but if you look at it from a broader perspective, we've had an incredible season. We've won the Premier League title again after 22 years, and we're just one step away from another trophy."

“We need some time to process this defeat. This season has been very successful in many ways, but we ultimately failed to achieve our goal of winning the double. However, we must be proud of our performance. We accomplished many remarkable things and had a fantastic journey in the Champions League.”

Ødegaard emphasized, "We must take advantage of this feeling and the positive experience this season has given us, and reflect on it all to ensure we return stronger next season. There are many positive aspects to this season, and of course, there are also some experiences and lessons to be learned in European competitions."

“We must celebrate the league title with the fans because they deserve it. I think we deserve the same celebration; we’ve accomplished something incredible together. If we could add a Champions League title to that, it would certainly be even more perfect.”
