The ongoing Dota 2 BLAST Slam VII offline playoffs are once again facing a visa crisis. Following the forced withdrawal of Team PARIVISION, tournament favorites Team Falcons are also mired in difficulties.
Team Falcons' mid-laner Malr1ne unfortunately missed the playoffs in Copenhagen, Denmark, due to a delayed visa approval. Faced with this unexpected situation, Team Falcons welcomed a legendary reinforcement.
SumaiL, the TI champion affectionately known as "Emperor Su" by fans, has been confirmed to serve as an emergency substitute, playing mid-lane in all remaining matches. SumaiL has been largely absent from the professional scene since leaving Nigma Galaxy last March.
Despite SumaiL's top-six finish at The International 2025, his overall performance has been inconsistent in recent years. Whether he can replace Malr1ne's hot streak in this crucial role has sparked widespread discussion among fans.
The first round of the playoffs will officially begin later today. The first match will be between Team Yandex and Aurora Gaming, followed by Team Falcons facing Team Liquid, who were fortunate enough to be "revived" due to PARIVISION's withdrawal.
In the upper bracket semifinals, LGD Gaming and BetBoom Team, the top two teams from the group stage, are ready to battle it out. The remaining six teams will compete fiercely over the next four days for a total prize pool of $1 million and the BLAST Slam VII championship trophy. The finals will be held on June 7th.
