Mourinho returns to Real Madrid to coach, signing a three-year contract.

According to media reports, Real Madrid has officially confirmed the reappointment of Jose Mourinho as the team's head coach.

The 63-year-old Portuguese manager has signed a three-year contract with the club and will officially take office on July 13 when the team assembles for pre-season training.

To facilitate this return, Real Madrid paid Benfica of Portugal £13 million (approximately €15 million) in compensation. This marks Mourinho's return to the Bernabéu Stadium after 13 years in charge of Real Madrid's first phase.

This appointment fulfills the campaign promise of club president Florentino Perez. In the presidential election earlier this month, the 79-year-old Perez won re-election with 65% of the vote, defeating his challenger and subsequently finalizing Mourinho's return.

Mourinho managed Real Madrid for three seasons from 2010 to 2013, leading the team to win La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. He subsequently managed Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Roma, and Fenerbahce. Last season, while managing Benfica, he led the team to an unbeaten league record.

Real Madrid have now gone two seasons without a trophy. After parting ways with former manager Xabi Alonso in January, the team was temporarily led by Arbeloa. The club hopes that this two-time Champions League winner can lead the team out of this slump.
