Brighton & Wanderers have completed a signing, bringing in defender Costinha from Greek giants Olympiacos on a five-year contract until June 2031. The transfer fee has not been disclosed, and the deal is still subject to final confirmation of international transfer approvals and registration.
The 26-year-old Portuguese right-back has established himself in the Greek league, playing a key role in Olympiacos' domestic and European competitions thanks to his solid defensive skills, his running coverage on the right flank, and his increasing involvement in possession.
Brighton manager Fabian Schürlzer said: “We’ve been watching Costinha for a while now. He has the defensive qualities, intensity, and tactical understanding that we value, and we believe he will fit in well. He’s adaptable at both ends of the pitch and will also add competitiveness at right-back. I’m delighted that he has chosen to come here and start a new chapter in the Premier League.”
Costinha developed through Portugal's youth academy, initially making a name for himself at Rio Ave and accumulating solid experience in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Since joining Olympiacos in 2024, he has made 74 appearances, quickly establishing himself as a regular starter. He has also represented Portugal's youth national teams for an extended period, covering multiple age groups from U18 to U21.
