Wolfsburg have officially signed Fabian Rees, with a contract running until June 2030.

VfL Wolfsburg have announced the signing of 28-year-old attacking player Fabian Rees from Hertha Berlin, with a contract running until June 30, 2030. He will wear the number 11 jersey next season. This is the club's third signing for the 2026/27 season.
Sporting director Piermin Schwegler said: "Fabian Rees has consistently been one of the best players in the 2. Bundesliga over the past few seasons. He not only has outstanding attacking ability, but also a strong sense of responsibility, leadership and fighting spirit. We are very pleased to bring him to Wolfsburg."
Speaking about the transfer, Fabian Rees said: "The decision to leave was not easy, and I believe everyone can understand. Born in Kiel, Fabian Riess grew up in the Holstein Kiel youth academy. He transferred to Schalke 04 in the U17 stage and was subsequently promoted to the U19 team, reserve team, and first team, making his Bundesliga and Europa League debuts. Later, he joined Karlsruhe and Greuther Fürth on loan, accumulating rich playing experience in the 2. Bundesliga.
In 2020, Fabian Ris returned to his hometown club, Holstein Kiel. After transferring to Hertha Berlin in 2023, he quickly became a key player for the team. During his time at Hertha, he made 91 official appearances, scoring 35 goals and providing 31 assists.
In the 2025/26 season, he not only scored 10 goals but also served as the team captain. Furthermore, Fabian Rees has made 15 appearances for the German U19 and U20 national teams. With the arrival of this experienced and influential attacking player, Wolfsburg looks to further strengthen its attacking capabilities and support its goals for the new season.
