Tuchel responds to England's shutout: I expected it to be a tough battle.

In a group stage match at the 2026 World Cup, England were held to a 0-0 draw by Ghana in Boston.

England struggled throughout the match, failing to break the deadlock despite Nico O'Reilly's header hitting the woodwork and Harry Kane missing a golden opportunity.

After the match, England manager Thomas Tuchel shared his thoughts on the frustrating draw in an interview. Tuchel said, "I'm not frustrated. I expected this result because I knew it would be a tough game."

“Ghana is physically strong and extremely tenacious. They deserve our praise. They are very difficult to break down. You need to be patient, but at the same time, you need to show courage at the right time. We only gave them two dangerous opportunities.”

"Towards the end of the first half, we gradually found our rhythm and got into the game, but of course, fatigue set in. I really liked the players' attitude, but you do need a bit of luck. We had enough shots and crosses, and Harry Kane had a great chance. That's how it turned out."

Tuchel later added: "I still think we are in one of the toughest groups in this World Cup. Our first and second games were very difficult, this game is completely different, but we will analyze it, recover well, and prepare for the next game."

England needs to quickly adjust their form for their next crucial match in the knockout stage. England's next game will be against Panama on June 28th.
