The Trail Blazers have hired Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Norie as their new head coach.

June 24 - According to ESPN, the Portland Trail Blazers have officially hired Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Norie as the team's new head coach.

Norrie has served in the NBA coaching system for many years since 2009. Sources revealed that his contract with the Trail Blazers has only one guaranteed year, with the following two years being team options, and includes a tiered salary structure that depends on team performance and incentive mechanisms.

Trail Blazers general manager of basketball operations Joe Cronin had interviewed more than a dozen candidates. Besides Norrie, the final candidates included Boston Celtics assistant coach Tyler Rushbrook and former interim head coach Tiago Splitter.

The Trail Blazers chose Norrie primarily because of his excellent communication and team management skills. He served as Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch's lead assistant coach for the past five seasons , helping the team achieve a top-tier league record and reach the playoffs five times in a row.

In addition, before joining the Timberwolves, Norrie also served as a coach for several teams, including the Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets, and Detroit Pistons.
