Strasbourg officially announced the signing of Guimaraes midfielder Diogo Souza on a five-year contract.

Strasbourg officially announced on Wednesday that 20-year-old Portuguese midfielder Diogo Sosa has transferred from Vitória Guimarães. The two sides signed a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.

According to Portuguese media outlets such as Record and A Bola, the transfer fee for Sousa is €11 million plus €4 million in add-ons. His contract with Guimarães was originally set to expire in 2028.

This move to Strasbourg marks the official end of Souza's 12-year career at Guimarães. He began his youth academy training at Guimarães at the age of 8, made his debut in September 2025, and accumulated 28 appearances, winning a Portuguese League Cup with the team.

After completing the transfer, Sousa bid farewell to Guimarães via his personal social media platform. In a statement, he wrote: "Today, I will say goodbye to the club. For me, it is much more than just a place where I used to play. Guimarães has been my home for nearly 12 years. Here, I grew into a player, and more importantly, I grew into a real person. Here, I completed all my training, established my values, gained countless friendships, and spent unforgettable times that I will cherish forever."

"The 2025/26 season will be forever remembered. Being able to help the club win a trophy makes this farewell even more moving. It was an unforgettable moment for everyone, and I believe it will be recorded in the club's history. I am incredibly proud to be a part of that history."

"I left satisfied and infinitely grateful for everything I had experienced here. Guimarães will always hold a special place in my heart, because some friendships don't end with leaving. Goodbye, Guimarães."
