Official: Eintracht Frankfurt extends contract with right-back Timothy Chandler until 2027.

Eintracht Frankfurt announced on Thursday that they have extended the contract of Timothy Chandler. The new contract extends the original summer's expiration by one year, running until June 30, 2027.

The 36-year-old Chandler primarily plays as a right-back, but can also play as a right midfielder, left midfielder, and other positions. He came through the Eintracht Frankfurt youth academy and made his professional debut for Nuremberg in the German Cup on January 20, 2011.

During his time at Nuremberg, Chandler made 102 appearances in all competitions, contributing 4 goals and 10 assists.

In July 2014, Chandler returned to Eintracht Frankfurt for €1 million. To date, he has made 199 appearances for Frankfurt, scoring 10 goals and providing 17 assists, winning one Europa League title and one German Cup with the team.

Following the contract extension, Eintracht Frankfurt's sporting director, Timo Hardunger, stated: "Timi is not only an important player, but also plays a vital role in many aspects. He is especially a role model for young players, always setting an example off the field through his attitude and professionalism. He brings a wealth of experience to the dressing room, has a positive personality, and is completely focused on Frankfurt. For this reason, we are very pleased to continue working with him."

Chandler added, "Everyone knows very well what Frankfurt means to me. The club is both my home and my family on a professional level."

"I am currently healthy, in good condition, and still have plenty of energy. I believe I can continue to help the team with my experience on and off the field, and most importantly, help them regain the spirit of Eintracht Frankfurt."

Eintracht Frankfurt had a poor season last year, finishing eighth in the Bundesliga with 11 wins, 11 draws, and 12 losses, accumulating 44 points. Speaking about his future prospects, Chandler candidly stated, "We've just had a tough season. My heart and reason tell me that my mission at Frankfurt is not yet complete. I hope to work with my teammates and new coach Adi Hütter to help the team rebuild the strong and successful Frankfurt of the past. As a city and a club, our goal must be to rekindle the unity that once made us stand out in Europe."

According to the official statement, Chandler will gradually take on management responsibilities next season. The player himself stated, "Last season, I discussed with Marcus Kruse the idea of exploring different areas, taking on more responsibility, and continuing my studies in related fields. As a player, the 2026/27 season may very well be my last dance – but in football, anything is possible."
