Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign Granit Xhaka this summer transfer window.

Chelsea have shown new activity in this summer's transfer market, with manager Xabi Alonso planning to sign Sunderland midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The Swiss international was a key member of Alonso's team during his time coaching Bayer Leverkusen, and the two won the Bundesliga title together in 2024. They still maintain a close personal relationship.

Granit Xhaka joined newly promoted Premier League side Sunderland last summer and helped the team secure a Europa League spot with his outstanding performances. He currently has two years remaining on his contract with the club. Xhaka highly values Xhaka's experience and hopes to bring him into Chelsea's midfield to bolster their strength.

However, this potential deal faces obstacles. Sunderland are determined to keep their midfield maestro, and given that Xhaka will turn 34 this September, Chelsea's management is unlikely to pay an exorbitant transfer fee.

This summer is destined to be anything but peaceful at Stamford Bridge. In terms of player movement, full-back Marc Cucurella has confirmed his move to Real Madrid, while the La Liga giants are also eyeing Chelsea's Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

To fill gaps and rejuvenate their squad, Chelsea have finalized the signing of Atalanta right-back Marco Palestella. In addition, defender Trevor Chalobah, currently with England at the World Cup, is being pursued by Como, with Chelsea setting a £35 million price tag on him.

At the forward line, Chelsea are currently keeping a close eye on West Ham United's two wingers, Jared Bowen and Cricenceo Somerwell.
