Brest FC announced on Saturday the official appointment of assistant coach Julian Razur as first-team manager. The two sides signed a two-year contract, valid until June 30, 2028.
The official statement also confirmed that the appointment was made in accordance with the wishes of former head coach Eric Roy, who tragically passed away on June 17 from pancreatic cancer. The club hoped that Razul would continue his coaching philosophy and achievements.
Razul, 49, played as a goalkeeper for Brest for five seasons during his playing career. During that time, he made 42 appearances for Brest, keeping eight clean sheets. After retiring in 2010, Razul began his coaching career at Brest. He first served as a goalkeeping coach for three years before being promoted to assistant coach of the first team after Roy took over in January 2023.
According to the official statement, Razur successfully obtained his French Professional Football Coaching Certificate (BEPF) in May 2025. Brest believes he possesses the professional competence and authority required to manage the first team and will fully support him in his work.
The club concluded by stating that Razul will now receive full support from the coaching staff left by Roy. Last season, Brest, under Roy's leadership, achieved a record of 10 wins, 9 draws, and 15 losses, ultimately finishing 12th in Ligue 1 with 39 points.
