Nottingham Forest sacks Pereira and appoints Grassner as manager

According to media reports, Nottingham Forest Football Club has officially dismissed manager Vitor Pereira and plans to hire Oliver Glasner as his successor.

Glasna will become the club's fifth manager in less than a year. The club activated the release clause in Pereira's contract late Tuesday night. The Portuguese coach took over from Sean Dyche in February and successfully led the team to safety from relegation; he had even planned preseason and transfer options beforehand.

Upon learning of his dismissal, Pereira admitted it was completely unexpected. In an interview, he stated, "This dismissal was entirely unexpected for me; there was no prior warning."

"Although this chapter ended earlier than I expected, I left Nottingham Forest without any pain or resentment, only with respect, gratitude and fond memories. I will always look back on my time here with pride and love."

Forest's technical director, George Syrianos, greatly admires Glasner. The management believes the Austrian's tactical style is a better fit for the current squad and sees him as an upgrade for the coaching staff, hoping he can bring long-term stability to the city stadium, which has experienced frequent upheavals.

Glasner previously had an outstanding tenure at Crystal Palace, leading the team to the UEFA Champions League title and turning around the team's decline when key players were sold.

However, Glasner will face considerable squad challenges upon taking over. It is understood that key player Elliott Anderson is set to join Manchester City for £116 million, and Nottingham Forest has identified Tottenham's Lucas Belival as a potential replacement.
