Official announcement: Inter Milan have extended Henrikh Mkhitaryan's contract until June 2027.

Inter Milan announced on Wednesday that they have extended the contract of Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The new contract extends the original summer expiry date by one year, until June 30, 2027.

To secure this contract renewal, Mkhitaryan demonstrated great sincerity during the negotiations. According to multiple sources, his salary for the coming year will be drastically reduced from €4.2 million to €2.5 million.

The 37-year-old Mkhitaryan started his career at domestic powerhouse Yerevan Phoenix, before moving on to European giants such as Metalist Donetsk, Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Roma. During his time playing in various leagues, he amassed a total of 26 titles, including one Europa League title, one Europa League title, two German Super Cup titles, one English League Cup title, and one Community Shield title.

In July 2022, Mkhitaryan joined Inter Milan on a free transfer. To date, he has made 187 appearances for Inter, scoring 12 goals and providing 21 assists, winning two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia titles, and two Italian Super Cup titles with the team.

It's worth mentioning that before the official announcement of his contract extension, Mkhitaryan spoke to the youth players of Yerevan Phoenix about his future plans: "I will try to play for another year, and then decide whether to retire and what my future plans are. I can't be sure yet because I haven't thought about it carefully. Although there are many opportunities in front of me, I have to choose the one that is best for me."

He added, "I can't give up halfway. I hope to end my career on a high note and I also hope to play one more season. After that, things will become clearer."
