Official: The Raptors have completed a contract extension with 47-year-old head coach Rajakovic.

The Toronto Raptors announced on Thursday that they have reached a multi-year contract extension agreement with head coach Darko Lajakovic. Specific terms of the contract were not disclosed, in accordance with team policy.

Regarding the contract extension, Raptors General Manager and Executive Vice President Bobby Webster explained, "We are delighted to extend Darko's contract and allow him to continue as the Toronto Raptors' head coach. Darko's distinctive talent development philosophy and unwavering commitment to a team-first culture are evident in his daily work. We have witnessed his philosophy manifested on the court—the team always gives its all, stays united, and fights until the very last moment. Darko knows there is still room for improvement, and we look forward to seeing the team continue to grow."

Rajakovic, 47, is widely regarded as one of the best young coaches in Serbia. He began his coaching career at the age of 16 with his hometown Chachak Fighters, and after joining the NBA in 2012, he served as an assistant coach for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, and Memphis Grizzlies.

In June 2023, Rajakovic officially succeeded Nick Nurse as the Raptors' head coach. To date, he has led the Raptors to a regular season record of 101 wins and 145 losses.

Following the contract extension, Rajakovic stated through official channels: "I am proud of the progress we have made, but the team is aware that there is still a huge room for improvement. I look forward to continuing to build the team with the Raptors and achieving more victories. We will continue to grow, continue to work together, focus on getting better every day, and continue to move towards the goal of an NBA championship. I want to thank Bobby Webster, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) and the Board of Directors, my coaching staff, and especially the players."
