Ipswich announced a one-year contract extension with Wes Burns.

Ipswich Town have officially confirmed that Welsh winger Wes Burns has signed a contract extension with the club. Since joining from Fleetwood Town in the summer of 2021, he has made 164 appearances for Ipswich, scoring 30 goals, and played a key role in the team's three consecutive promotion campaigns.  

According to the new agreement reached by both parties, Wes Burns has renewed his contract with Ipswich Town for another year. He will continue to wear the team's jersey in the new season and will officially rejoin the team next week after the start of preseason training, joining the squad led by head coach Gary O'Neill.  

Speaking about his contract extension, Wes Burns said: “I’m very happy to continue being a part of this club. I’ve had many memorable moments at Ipswich over the past five years and achieved a lot with the team, which makes me very proud. I love this club and enjoy everything here, so I’m looking forward to staying here and playing in the Premier League again next season.”  

Speaking about the past season, Wes Burns reflected on the team's promotion and his own experience overcoming injuries. He said, "Helping the team achieve its third promotion has special meaning for the club, the city, and myself. After a long recovery period from injury, I've been working hard to regain my match fitness. Last time I played in the Premier League, I missed a lot of games due to injury."  

"That's why I'm full of energy now and hope to return to the highest level of competition and contribute to the team's new breakthroughs. After talking with Gary O'Neal, I'm even more excited for the new season and can't wait to get back to the training ground and start preparing with my teammates."  

Head coach Gary O'Neill also welcomed Wes Burns' contract extension, saying, "Everyone at the club is delighted that Wes Burns will stay with us for the new season. I also know very well that he has been an indispensable part of the club for the past five years."
