Real Madrid announced on Sunday that Dutch international Denzel Dumfries has officially joined Inter Milan. The two sides signed a four-year contract, valid until June 30, 2030.
Dumfries became Real Madrid's fifth signing this summer, following Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté, Bernardo Silva, and Mario Martín. His contract with Inter Milan was originally set to expire in 2028, but Real Madrid activated his €20 million release clause.
The 30-year-old Dumfries primarily plays as a right-back, but can also play as a right winger. He began his professional career at Sparta Rotterdam, before moving to Heerenveen, PSV Eindhoven, and Inter Milan.
To date, Dumfries has made 440 club appearances, scoring 49 goals and providing 61 assists. His most representative achievements to date are undoubtedly winning two Serie A titles, three Coppa Italia titles, and three Italian Super Cups with Inter Milan as a key player.
Dumfries has also made 76 appearances for the Dutch national team, including two European Championships (2021, 2024) and two World Cups (2022, 2026). He has a record of 11 goals and 25 assists in international competitions.
After completing the transfer, Dumfries immediately bid a heartfelt farewell to Inter Milan via social media: "It's time to say goodbye to Inter Milan, which has had such a profound impact on my life. The five years at Inter have been an incredible journey, filled with unforgettable moments, endless joy, and very few lows. The young man who embarked on his first overseas adventure has now grown into a man, a husband, and the father of three lovely children, and I am filled with gratitude."
"My first thought is of all my teammates who have fought alongside me: every training session, every away game, and every match has been invaluable. We have laughed together, won together, celebrated together, and sometimes gone through hardships together: I sincerely thank each and every one of you. I also want to thank the coaching staff and all the behind-the-scenes workers: over the years, you have become my true family."
"Together, we have written a glorious chapter in history, winning two Serie A titles, three Coppa Italia titles, and three Italian Super Cups, not to mention two spectacular journeys in the Champions League. I will always cherish these memories."
"Finally, I want to especially thank the fans around the world: your support has never stopped, and I will never take it for granted. From the first day I joined Inter, I have always given my all for the team. Now we are about to part ways, but this is by no means a final farewell: it is only a temporary separation."
