Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, exclusively reported on Sunday that Paris Saint-Germain's France international forward Bradley Barcola has officially informed the club that he will not renew his contract.

According to Romano, despite numerous attempts at negotiation, Barcola has chosen not to renew his contract in order to seek new challenges.

Having expressed the strongest and most sincere interest, Barcola has now set Liverpool as his first choice for his next club.

The player is willing to engage in further negotiations with the Premier League giants regarding personal terms, provided that Liverpool and PSG can reach an agreement on the transfer fee.

Romano explained that Liverpool had actually already considered signing Barcola during the summer transfer window of 2025, but the deal fell through because PSG was determined not to sell the player at the time.

After the summer transfer window closed, Paris Saint-Germain attempted to negotiate a contract extension with Barcola over four months, but the both parties failed to make any progress. Since January, Barcola's agent team has even refused to resume negotiations with the club.

Liverpool has listed Barcola as their primary candidate to succeed Egyptian legend Mohamed Salah since April.

RB Leipzig's wonderkid Yan Diomande is their second choice.

After Diomande publicly expressed his desire to join PSG, Liverpool patiently awaited Barcola's decision on his future. Although the Reds considered signing Hoffenheim's wonderkid Bazoumana Touré, Barcola remained their primary potential target.

This also explains why Newcastle United were able to suddenly sign Touré.

Romano has also denied rumours circulating online which claimed that the reigning Ligue 1 champions would demand €170 million for Barcola.

He stated that undeniably, given Barcola's contract with PSG still runs for another two years until 2028, the club will certainly demand a very large transfer fee.

However, the initial asking price is unlikely to be as high as €170 million; a lower figure or the rumoured €130 million is more probable.

Regarding other potential suitors other than Liverpool, Romano confirmed that Bayern Munich had approached Barcola's agent.

Bayern did consider signing the player if Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, or Luis Diaz leaves, but have now completely shelved the plan.

Arsenal also considered bringing in Barcola, but the Gunners have not yet made any approach with his agent.
