Oliver Glasner: The team's attitude and performance in the game met my expectations, and I am satisfied with that.

Nottingham Forest got off to a good start in their first preseason friendly of the 2026/27 season, defeating Notts County 2-0 away from home and securing their first win of the new season. Igor Jesus and Arno Calimundo scored in the first and second halves respectively, securing the victory for the team. After the final whistle, head coach Oliver Glasner expressed satisfaction with the team's performance and praised the players' attitude.  

In this match, Nottingham Forest visited Meadow Lane to face their city rivals, Notts County. To give more players playing time during the preseason, head coach Oliver Glasner used two different starting lineups in each half, assessing player form and preparing the team for their upcoming training camp in the Algarve, Portugal, while also further promoting team cohesion.  

Although the team only completed four days of preseason training, Oliver Glasner still gave the players full credit for their performance. He said, "This match achieved the training effect we expected. With the support of more than 15,000 spectators, including about 6,000 Nottingham Forest fans, we successfully completed our first preseason match of the new season. Considering that the whole team only had four days of training, I am very satisfied with the players' performance."  

“We created and scored two very beautiful goals, while maintaining good stability in defense. Although there are still some aspects of the game that need further improvement and there is still room for improvement compared to our future goals, the team has shown a lot of positive aspects given the limited preparation time. I am very satisfied with the players' attitude and performance on the field today.”  

Oliver Glasner gave high praise to the team's first goal, saying, "That goal fully demonstrated the team's overall coordination. Morgan delivered a high-quality pass, Igor Jesus made a perfectly timed forward run, and Omari's off-the-ball movement in the middle successfully drew the defense's attention. Every aspect was handled perfectly."  

"As for the second goal, I am equally satisfied. The accurate cross and the active movement in the penalty area are exactly what we have been practicing repeatedly this week. We hope that more players will enter key areas, and today everyone has executed this requirement very well. We have taken a positive first step. Next, the team will continue to improve itself through training and continuously enhance its overall performance in order to welcome the new season in a more ideal state."
