July 26 - The Phoenix Suns officially announced that they have signed free agent guard Luke Kennard to a multi-year contract.
Suns general manager Brian Gregory stated that Kennard, with his outstanding professionalism and shooting ability, has become one of the most efficient three-point shooters in NBA history. His spacing ability, basketball IQ, and playmaking skills will bring more variety to the team's offensive system.
Kennard played 78 games for the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers last season, shooting a career-high 53.3% from the field and leading the league in three-point percentage at 47.8%. He averaged 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, playing 21.6 minutes per game.
On April 5, in an away game against the Dallas Mavericks, Kennard recorded his first career triple-double with 15 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists. During the playoffs, he played in all 10 games for the Lakers, averaging 11.5 points and 3.5 rebounds, and scored a playoff career-high 27 points against the Houston Rockets on April 18.
As a veteran with nine years of NBA experience, Kennard has played 538 games in his career , starting 127 of them . He averaged 9.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.9 three-pointers per game. His career three-point shooting percentage of 44.2% ranks second in NBA history, second only to Steve Kerr .
Kennard was the league’s leading three-point shooter in the league three times in the 2021-22 , 2022-23 and 2025-26 seasons, tying Kyle Korver for the only two players in NBA history to have achieved this honor at least three times.
