The San Jose Earthquakes announced on their official website on Monday that Nottingham Forest's Scotland international goalkeeper Angus Gunn has joined the club on a free transfer.
According to the San Jose Earthquakes' official statement, Gunn has signed on a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the winter of 2030.
After completing his transfer procedurers, Gunn, who was interviewed by the Major League Soccer (MLS) club's official website for the first time, said: "It feels fantastic to join the Earthquakes. The World Cup experience was unforgettable, and I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to come to San Jose and show my best. We are currently in a great position in the playoffs, and hopefully we can focus on the games with the right attitude."
About Angus Gunn
The 30-year-old Angus Gunn was born on January 2, 1996, in Norwich, England. He is1.96 meters tall, plays as a goalkeeper and has Scottish ancestry. His father, Bryan, is a former Norwich legendary goalkeeper, and his mother, Susan, is a renowned British artist.
Influenced by his father from a young age, Gunn was a loyal Norwich City fan and joined the club's youth academy. In 2011, Gunn moved to Manchester City's youth academy for £250,000 and was promoted to the first-team in the summer of 2016.
In the summer of 2017, Gunn returned to Norwich City on loan and completed his Norwich City first-team debut that August.
During his loan spell with the Canaries, Gunn's outstanding performances earned him the Norwich City Player of the Year award.
The following July, Gunn moved to Southampton for £13.5 million.
In October 2020, Gunn was loaned-out to Stoke City. Despite being plagued by injuries during his loan spell, he helped the Potters avoid relegation.
The following summer, Gunn returned to Norwich City for £5 million.
After his contract expires in August 2025, Gunn joins Nottingham Forest as a free agent.
However, last season, Gunn only made one appearance for the Premier League club in all competitions.
