John Tunia joins the Trail Blazers on a two-way contract to begin his new season.

July 26 - The Portland Trail Blazers officially announced that they have signed guard John Tunia to a two-way contract. Specific details of the contract were not disclosed, in accordance with team policy.

 

The 25- year-old Tunya played 6 games for the Boston Celtics in the 2025-26 season , averaging 2.5 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 7.0 minutes per game , with a 30.0% three-point shooting percentage .

 

Last season, Tunya played in the NBA G League, appearing in 29 games for the Salt Lake City Stars and the Maine Celtics , starting both. He averaged 31.3 minutes per game, contributing 18.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists, with a field goal percentage of 44.0% , a three-point percentage of 35.4% , and a free throw percentage of 88.8% .

 

Standing at 1.96 meters tall , Tunya was selected by the Utah Jazz in the second round, 53rd overall pick, of the 2025 NBA Draft . During his college years, he played for Colorado State University, the University of Missouri, and the University of Wisconsin.

 

In addition, during the 2024-25 season, Tunya averaged 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game for the University of Wisconsin, earning a spot on the All-American Second Team and the All-Big Ten First Team.
