Reeves on James' departure: "Thank you for everything he did."

Former Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has confirmed his departure from the team, a piece of news that has left his former teammate and friend Austin Reeves feeling very sad.

Last week, after learning that the four-time NBA champion was about to leave the team, Reeves sent James a very direct text message.

On Wednesday, Reeves revealed the contents of the text messages in an interview: "I texted him that I was having a great time on the golf course until he ruined it all."

Reeves and James played together for the Lakers for five seasons. During Reeves' rookie season, James recognized his talent and provided him with tremendous support in daily training and games.

In May of this year, after the Lakers were eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the playoffs, Reeves publicly expressed his gratitude to James: "He taught me a lot, and I am very grateful to him for my career. He gives me confidence every day."

Beyond their on-course partnership, the two also developed a strong friendship off the course. Reeves, a golf enthusiast, stated that they have played together frequently since James started playing golf last year. In his farewell message last week, Reeves wrote, "Thanks for everything. See you on the golf course soon, bro."

Currently, James has not announced his new destination. However, according to sources last month, Reeves plans to sign a four-year, $185 million contract extension with the Lakers.
