Werder Bremen have officially signed Polish center-back Oscar Wojciech on a five-year contract.

Werder Bremen announced on Thursday that Polish center-back Oscar Wojciech has transferred from Krakow. Multiple reliable sources have revealed that the two sides signed a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.

German newspaper Bild explicitly stated that Werder Bremen's move was primarily to address the defensive crisis caused by Niklas Stark's recurring hip injury. Wojciech's transfer fee could reach as high as €6 million, plus a 15% commission on any subsequent transfer.

The 22-year-old Wojcik came through the Krakow youth academy and made 34 appearances for the first team last season. He also spent time on loan at Beukhatuv, where he made 13 appearances and provided 2 assists.

Thanks to his impressive performances at the club level, Wojczyk received his first call-up to the Polish national team in May. On May 31, he made his international debut in a friendly match against Ukraine.

Regarding Wojciech's signing, Werder Bremen's general manager, Clemens Fritz, commented: "Oscar was one of the most outstanding players in the Polish league last season. We have been following him for a long time. We are very happy to have the opportunity to sign him now, and he has decided to become a member of the Werder Bremen family."

Werder Bremen coach Daniel Tione later added: "Oscar has made significant progress, achieving a breakthrough in the Polish league last season. He possesses many of the qualities a center-back should have and can play an important role for us."

Wojciker himself said: "I can't wait to start this new journey. I've heard so much about the fans and the home atmosphere, and now I want to experience it for myself. Joining Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga was, in my opinion, the right decision. My conversations with the club's management have been very positive, and the club has given me a very good first impression."
