Rennes have officially announced the signing of American right-back Brian Reynolds for a transfer fee of approximately €4.5 million.

Rennes officially announced on Thursday the signing of American right-back Brian Reynolds from Westeros. The two sides signed a four-year contract, valid until June 30, 2030.

Other reports suggest that Reynolds' transfer fee was around €4.5 million. His contract with Westerlo was originally set to expire in 2027.

Regarding Reynolds' arrival, Rennes' Executive Chairman and General Manager Arnaud Pouille explained: "Bryan fits our transfer needs, and our scouting department has been monitoring him for a long time. He is a rapidly developing and highly capable player who will inject new energy into the dressing room. The club is very pleased with his arrival. Now, it remains to be seen how he will demonstrate his full potential to the Rennes fans."

The 25-year-old Reynolds came through the FC Dallas youth academy and made his first-team debut in MLS on May 20, 2019. He later played for North Texas, Roma, and Kortrijk, winning the 2021/22 Europa League with Roma.

In July 2023, Reynolds transferred to Belgian powerhouse Westerlo for €3.3 million. To date, he has made 146 appearances for Westerlo, contributing 5 goals and 17 assists.

Reynolds also represented the United States national team seven times, winning the 2023 Gold Cup. Unfortunately, he was not selected for the U.S. 26-man squad for the 2026 USA-Canadian Cup.

Following the transfer, Reynolds stated in a press release: "I've heard that Rennes is a major power in Ligue 1. This is a huge leap for me, and I've always hoped the deal could be finalized as soon as possible. I'm very eager to join Rennes. It's perfectly logical to accept the challenge of playing in the Europa League."

“It’s incredible to be able to play for the club. The team always aims to win and is committed to getting all three points in every game. If the club didn’t believe I was capable of playing in Ligue 1, they wouldn’t have signed me. I have to prove to the coach, my teammates, and the club that I am ready.”
