Paris Saint-Germain has officially confirmed that 18-year-old goalkeeper Arthur Wignaud has signed a professional contract with the club, extending his contract until June 2029. The young goalkeeper will remain with Paris, donning the red and blue jersey to embrace new challenges in his career and begin his development.
Arthur Vignaude was born on January 21, 2008, in Paris, France, and displayed football talent from a young age. In 2021, he transferred from Isaiah Thomas to Paris Saint-Germain, officially entering the club's youth academy. At only 13 years old, he first received training at the pre-youth academy, then gradually improved, completing his development at the Paris Youth Academy. Paris Saint-Germain's youth academy has recently been recognized by the French Football Federation as one of France's top youth academies.
Last season, Arthur Vignaude proved his potential with consistent performances. The young goalkeeper won the 2024/25 French U19 league title with Paris Saint-Germain U19, and subsequently helped the team achieve a double of the league and Gambadra Cup titles. In 13 league appearances, he kept 7 clean sheets, showcasing excellent goalkeeping skills. Furthermore, Vignaude also performed brilliantly in the Gambadra Cup final against Montpellier last May, making a significant contribution to the team's victory.
Despite his young age, Arthur Wignaud has already gained valuable experience in high-level competitions. In the 2023/24 season, the young goalkeeper received his first call-up to the French U16 national team and represented Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Youth League. Last season, he helped his team reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Youth League, demonstrating outstanding athletic ability and development potential.
Thanks to his consistently improving performances in recent years, Arthur Wignaud has gradually come into the sights of Paris Saint-Germain's first team. The young goalkeeper has participated in the team's senior training sessions multiple times and has been called up twice by head coach Luis Enrique to the official matchday squad. These include the Ligue 1 match against Paris FC on January 4, 2026, and the crucial Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich on May 6, 2026.
After signing his professional contract, Arthur Wignaud shared his excitement, saying, "I am very proud to sign my first professional contract with Paris Saint-Germain, a club I love. Over the years, I have grown from the pre-college academy to the youth academy, and this moment is very meaningful to me. I will continue to work hard, improve myself every day, and give my all for this red and blue jersey."
