FIFA World Cup revenue hits record high, far exceeding pre-tournament expectations

FIFA is about to announce that the total revenue for this summer's Men's World Cup has reached a record $15 billion, far exceeding the pre-tournament estimate of $11 billion.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has briefed member associations on these financial figures. Insiders revealed that the surge in revenue was primarily due to VIP ticketing and high resale prices on the secondary market. FIFA takes a 15% commission from both the buyer and seller in the resale market.

This massive fund is expected to benefit national football associations across the country and solidify Gianni Infantino's position. Previously, FIFA was accused of being pressured by Donald Trump to overturn a red card received by US striker Balogun in the Round of 16, sparking strong discontent among European football associations.

However, in the face of the upcoming election next March, Infantino has secured the support of more than 200 associations, and the huge financial dividends have also reduced potential public opposition.

Excellent commercial performance has also increased the likelihood of the United States bidding to host the World Cup again in the future. At a reception on Friday, Trump clearly expressed his desire to host the tournament alone and suggested that FIFA choose the United States again in the 2038 World Cup bidding process.

In addition, the United States is in talks with FIFA to host the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup. Currently, at the New Jersey stadium where the Spain vs. Argentina final will be held, the highest-level VIP tickets are priced as high as $34,500 per person.
