Roma completes contract extensions with defensive midfielder Bryan Cristante and defender Gianluca Mancini..


Roma announced on their official website on Tuesday that they have extended the contracts of their Italian international stars, defensive midfielder Bryan Cristante and defender Gianluca Mancini.


According to Roma's official statement, Cristante has signed on a new short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2028; Mancini has signed on a new three-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.


About Bryan Cristante


The 31-year-old Bryan Cristante was born on March 3, 1995, in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy. He is 1.86 meters tall and primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, but can also play as a center-back. He holds dual Italian and Canadian citizenship.


Cristante joined AC Milan's youth academy at the age of 14 and completed his first-team debut in December 2011 by coming on as a substitute in a UEFA Champions League match. At just 16 years old, he broke the record as AC Milan's youngest Champions League debutant.


On the 2014 winter transfer window deadline day, Cristante joined Benfica for €4.84 million.


During his-year-and-a-half-spell with As Águias, he helped the team achieve a Portuguese Primeira Liga and Taça da Liga double twice.


From January 2016 to the first half of the following year, Cristante played on-loan at Palermo and Pescara successively.


In the summer of 2017, Cristante played on-loan at Atalanta, with the latter later triggering his €9.5 million buy-out clause.


The following summer, Cristante joined Roma on-loan, with his ownership rights being permanently bought out in the summer of 2019 for €15 million.


Since joining I Giallorossi, Cristante has so far made 364 appearances for Roma in all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing 23 assists, winning one UEFA Conference League title and reaching one UEFA Europa League final with the team.


About Gianluca Mancini


Gianluca Mancini, 30 years old, was born on April 17, 1996, in Pontevedra, Italy. He primarily plays as a center-back, but can also play as a defensive midfielder.


Mancini played in the youth academy of non-league club Valdamo as a child, and joined Fiorentina's youth academy at the age of 10. After being promoted to the first team in the summer of 2015, he was immediately loaned-out to Perugia, where he would complete his Perugia first-team debut in September of the same year.


The following August, Mancini officially moved to Perugia as a free agent. During his year-and-a-half-spell at Perugia, Mancini's impressive performances attracted the attention of several mid to smaller Serie A clubs.


In January 2017, Mancini moved to Atalanta for €200,000, but was immediately loaned back to Perugia.


After his loan spell ended that summer, Mancini officially became a member of Atalanta's first-team.


In July 2019, Mancini moved to Roma for €130,000.


Since joining I Giallorossi, Mancini has so far made 319 appearances for the Serie A powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists. He has helped the team win one UEFA Conference League title and reach one UEFA Europa League final.
