Charlton Athletic have confirmed the signing of Danny McNamara on a two-year contract.

Charlton Athletic has completed a summer signing, officially welcoming back right-back Danny McNamara. The 27-year-old defender has signed a two-year contract, returning to the club he played for as a child after many years.  

Former Ireland U21 international Danny McNamara joined Charlton Athletic as a free agent after his contract with Millwall expired. This signing marks manager Nathan Jones' fourth acquisition this summer.  

Speaking about the signing, head coach Nathan Jones said: "We are delighted with the arrival of Danny McNamara. He has a wealth of experience in the Championship and knows how to create value and win games for the team. His arrival will further enhance the team's overall strength on the right flank and create more healthy competition in that position."  

"Danny McNamara is an exceptionally talented player with a strong competitive spirit and a desire to win. We hope to have more players like him who are eager to win. He has a positive impact on the team, both on the field and as a member of the locker room, and we look forward to working with him."  

After completing the signing, Danny McNamara expressed his joy. He said, "I'm very happy to be a part of this club again. I started my football career here as a child, growing up in the U8 team until I was about 15. This experience has created a special connection between me and the club, and now that I'm back, I can't wait for a new beginning."

Speaking about his move to Charlton Athletic, Danny McNamara said the transfer progressed faster than expected. He stated, "Things have moved very quickly in the last five to seven days. The club expressed interest, and then the two sides quickly began communication and pushed the deal through."
