Marcus Tafnir: Facing the new season and new challenges, we all hope the team can achieve the desired results.

Speaking about the significance of European competitions, Marcus Tafnir revealed that he had experienced this special feeling not as a player, but as a fan. He had previously supported his brother James Tafnir's performance at Rangers and attended their matches in person. In the 2022 Europa League final, Rangers faced Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville, ultimately losing on penalties; Marcus also witnessed that unforgettable match.  

Marcus Tafnir recalled: "I've been following the team's journey. Back when I was playing for Middlesbrough, I would travel to Glasgow to support him whenever there was a game on Thursday night. I could feel the joy that experience brought him, and I believe he will often think back to that special and wonderful time after he finishes his career."  

“That was probably the most nerve-wracking game I’ve ever watched. When I’m on the field as a player, I can always stay calm, but that experience in the stands was completely different. It was probably the first time in a long time that I was truly immersed in the emotions of football like an ordinary fan.”  

“From the day before the match to all the preparations on match day, and the football atmosphere that permeated the streets of Seville, the whole process was an unforgettable experience. The match itself was also very exciting. They took a 1-0 lead at one point, but unfortunately they lost in the penalty shootout. I am incredibly proud that my brother was able to stand on such a stage, and I hope that I can have a similar experience in the future.”  

Marcus Tafnir is currently with Bournemouth in Austria for pre-season preparations. New manager Marco Rose and his coaching staff are leading the players in training to prepare for the new season. Bournemouth will next play a friendly match on Friday at the Saarfelden Arena against German side St. Pauli.  

Regarding the team's current preparations, Marcus Tafnir said: "I am very excited to work with the new coach, and we are working hard to integrate his football philosophy into the game. For the past three years, the team has had its own style of play, and now we have a new tactical system. The players need to adjust gradually through training and matches , which takes time."  

"Actually, our playing styles have many similarities, but we've optimized and changed some aspects. Next, we need to continue to improve these details in training. The whole team has already accepted the coach's tactical philosophy and hopes to show the results of training on the field as soon as possible."  

“I think this was also an important consideration for the club’s decision to hire him. He wants the team to play a style of football that is similar to the system we have established before, and this style of play has proven to help the team succeed. Of course, every head coach has his own philosophy and coaching style, and we need to trust his judgment and execute his plan. The teams he has led before have all achieved very good results.”  

"Facing the new season and new challenges, we all hope that the team can achieve success. Everyone has fully understood and accepted the coach's tactical ideas. What we need to do now is to continue to work hard, constantly improve the way we execute these ideas in training and games, and make them work at their best."  

Regarding the upcoming match, Marcus Tafnir said, "This is the moment we've been waiting for, finally able to test the results of our training through a game. While regular training helps us refine our tactics, it's only when we're actually in the game that we can clearly see how the team is functioning and what details need to be improved under the new coach's guidance."
