Jashan Tate will remain with the Rockets on a one-year minimum contract and will continue to play a locker room leadership role next season.

The Houston Rockets announced on Thursday that they have signed Jashan Tate to a contract extension. According to a previous report by Warren Shankal of the Houston Chronicle, the two sides reached a one-year veteran minimum salary contract.

NBA insider Michael Scotto later revealed that Tate's salary next season will be $3.06 million, of which $1.04 million is partially guaranteed. Thanks to the league's "veteran minimum salary subsidy" mechanism, the contract only occupies about $2.45 million of the Rockets' salary cap space.

Tate, 30, is a 6'6" (1.93m) and 104kg (52kg) forward who joined the Rockets in November 2020 as an undrafted free agent. To date, he has played 342 regular season games for the Rockets, averaging 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 19.9 minutes per game, with a 49.4% field goal percentage and a 30.9% three-point percentage.

In the 2025/26 season, Tate made his first playoff appearance with the Lakers. In the first round of the playoffs against the Lakers, he went 3-for-10 from the field, averaging only 2.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 6.0 minutes per game.

With his contract officially taking effect, Tate will be entering his seventh NBA season. As the longest-serving player on the Rockets roster, he will continue to play a leading role in the locker room next season.
