Manchester City's new manager, Maresca, admitted that he will not replicate Guardiola's style of play.

Manchester City's new manager, Enzo Maresca, officially debuted at the Etihad Stadium. In his first press conference after signing a three-year contract, the Italian coach made it clear that he will implement his own football philosophy at Manchester City and will not simply replicate the style of his predecessor, Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola won 20 trophies during his ten years managing Manchester City. Although Maresca served as his assistant in the 2022-23 season, he emphasized that he will pursue an independent path.

When asked about his coaching style in an interview, Maresca said, "I'm here to work my own way, not to copy someone. Every head coach is completely different, and I don't believe in copying and pasting."

Manchester City desperately need to bounce back after missing out on the Premier League title for two consecutive seasons. Facing the pressure of the title race, Maresca admitted, "I know very well that this is a club that needs to win championships."

"I've led teams to titles with Leicester City and Chelsea before. But now I'm not thinking about next May. I'm focused on the present, on tomorrow, and on how to improve this group of young players."

Taking over a team that has just experienced a glorious era is certainly a challenge, but Maresca seemed relaxed: "Pep is the best coach of the last 20 years, and it is an honor to succeed him. Although many clubs experience growing pains after the departure of a great coach, I am confident that we can do a great job."
