Lewis Koumas aims to prove his strength to Iraola.

Liverpool, under new manager Andoni Iraola, are currently training intensively in the United States and will participate in a friendly match against Sunderland. Lewis Koumas, who is training in the US with other young Liverpool teammates, expressed his strong desire to prove himself to the manager and aspire to represent the "Reds" in the Premier League.

"Everything is going well right now," said 20-year-old Lewis Kumars in an interview. "Everyone is enjoying the preseason and is really looking forward to the games. We young players just relax, chat, build rapport, play board games together, and everyone looks forward to training every day."

“I’ve always had a good relationship with Tre Nione. We’ve been good friends since our first season together, and we still are. Our training has been excellent, and the atmosphere has been very positive. We’re all working hard to adapt to our new manager, Andoni Iraola, and the way he wants the team to play.”

Tre Nione, who previously played in Liverpool's youth academy, was loaned to Hull City for the 2025/26 season. He made 17 appearances in the Championship that season, scoring 3 goals and helping Hull City achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Reflecting on last season's journey, Lewis Koumas shared, "I learned a lot. It was really difficult at the beginning of last season, but everything went in a positive direction afterward."

“I learned a lot at Hull City, and we finally got promoted to the Premier League, which is a fantastic achievement, so it was a very successful season.”

Andoni Iraola, from Spain, became Liverpool's new manager in June, and his primary task at present is to build rapport with the players and improve their overall form during this preseason preparation period.

Lewis Koumas said, "I feel I am a player who meets the manager's requirements. My high pressing and the energy I bring to the team are very much in line with his football philosophy. I have always hoped to impress the manager, so I will work hard to prove myself and see where the future will take me."

In addition, when asked about his goals for the new season, Lewis Koumas said, "Of course I want to play in the Premier League for Liverpool, but if things don't turn out that way, I will continue to work hard and improve myself."
