The Lakers have locked in Ziaray Williams to wear jersey number 11 next season.

July 26 - The Los Angeles Lakers officially announced the signing of forward Zia Ray Williams .

The 2.06 -meter - tall Williams played 56 games for the Brooklyn Nets in the 2025-26 season, starting 13 of them . He averaged career-highs of 10.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. He played an average of 22.9 minutes per game , shooting 42.5% from the field, 34.3% from three-point range , and 85.0% from the free-throw line .

Last season, Williams scored in double figures 31 times, making him the second-highest scorer off the Nets' bench. He also had a career-long streak of at least one steal in 16 consecutive games from February 27 to April 3, which was also the Nets ' longest streak of consecutive steals in the last seven years .

Williams' scoring average has steadily increased over the past four seasons. Throughout his career, he has played 269 regular season games for the Memphis Grizzlies and Nets, starting 108 of them , averaging 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He has also played in 14 playoff games, helping the Grizzlies reach the Western Conference semifinals in 2022 .

Williams was selected 10th overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2021 NBA Draft , and the draft pick was subsequently transferred to the Memphis Grizzlies. He played for Stanford University in college, averaging 10.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
