Julio Diaz expressed his anticipation for new challenges and his desire to work with his teammates to achieve more honors and results.

Sevilla's new signing Julio Diaz, in an interview with the club, stated that he is a full-back with both attacking and defensive capabilities and hopes to help the team reclaim his rightful place. The young player from Madrid officially joined Sevilla this Tuesday, becoming the team's fifth new signing for the 2026/27 season, and gave his first interview to the official media after completing his signing.  

Julio Diaz said: "I am very happy to join Sevilla. I can't wait to meet the fans and my teammates and prove that the team can get back to where it belongs. When I received the invitation from Sevilla, I didn't think too much about it because it is a club with a glorious history and a deep heritage. I am very excited to be a part of it."  

Julio Diaz is no stranger to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium. Last season, while playing for Atlético Madrid, he was part of the team in an away match against Sevilla, where he started and contributed an assist.  

Julio Diaz recalled: "At that time, the club was going through a challenging period, and everyone knew that. But even so, I could still feel the strong atmosphere in the stadium, the support the fans gave the team, and everyone's determination to change the situation. I think that's exactly the kind of strength that players need most during difficult times."  

“Every young player dreams of making their La Liga debut one day, and I’m lucky to have achieved that goal while wearing the Atlético Madrid jersey. It’s where I grew up, where I’ve worked hard since my youth academy days, so that experience has special meaning for me. But now, I’m starting a new chapter, and all my focus is on Sevilla. I hope to work hard with the team to create more wonderful memories and achievements.”  

"For fans who don't know me yet, I'm a very competitive player who will always be aggressive on the field and won't easily give up any opportunity. I'll come here with the energy, passion, and desire to win that young players should have, which I believe are very important in modern football. If players get enough space to perform and gain the coach's trust, they will naturally show attacking initiative. I consider myself a full-back who likes to push forward and participate in the attack, and also has the ability to take responsibility on the defensive end."  

Speaking about internal competition within the team, Julio Diaz believes it helps each player continuously improve. He stated, "Competition is a good thing for the team. We need to maintain high-intensity training every day, grow together with our teammates, and find our place as soon as possible to contribute to the team. Although I only have four La Liga appearances so far, I accumulated a lot of match experience during my youth team years. I hope to prove my ability through my performance and show everyone what I can contribute to the team."  

“Actually, I started living independently quite early. I left home at the age of 11 to enter the youth academy, so I’m very familiar with playing football away from home. I think joining Sevilla is an important step in my career, and I believe that with the help of my teammates and club staff, I can quickly integrate here. I know some players from Sevilla B team, we’ve played against each other before, and I also know some of the first-team players I faced in La Liga last season. Although I’ve only been to Sevilla for matches before and haven’t really lived here long-term, I hope to adapt to the city as soon as possible, especially the hot weather.”
