Rick Carlisle says he's still enjoying coaching the team and has no plans to retire.

Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said on a podcast hosted by Draymond Green that he still enjoys coaching the team and is grateful to work with an excellent coaching team.

Rick Carlisle, 66, previously coached the Detroit Pistons and the Dallas Mavericks, leading the Mavericks to the NBA championship in 2011.

When asked by Draymond Green how much longer he would coach in the NBA, Rick Carlisle joked, "As long as I can keep dodging your tackles on the sidelines, I'll keep coaching."

Rick Carlisle then said, "Nobody wants to stay too long and bore others. I still have several years left on my contract, but I still love this job."

“We have a very good coaching team, including Lloyd Pierce, Jeanie Bussek, Jim Boylan, Isaac Jacob, Gianniro Pargo and many other excellent coaches. So coming to the arena to work every day is a pleasure.”

Rick Carlisle said, "Our management team is also excellent, including Kevin Pritchard, Chad Buchanan, and Wu Taide. Of course, our players are also a great group of people."

“I focus only on the work of the day, and I don’t calculate how many games I’ve won or how many years I’ve coached. All these achievements will accumulate slowly over time.”

When discussing Luka Doncic, the Los Angeles Lakers star who played under Rick Carlisle during his time coaching the Dallas Mavericks, Carlisle said, "At the time, I really didn't know what position he should play. I originally thought he would probably be a small forward because he is close to 2.03 meters tall. But he always told me that he was a point guard."

"After playing about 8 to 10 games, we decided to move him to point guard. At the same time, we had Dennis Smith Jr. switch to playing off-ball, and the rest is history."
