Juventus, nicknamed "The Old Lady," will face Premier League giants Chelsea in their next preseason friendly at the Kai Tak Sports Complex. Manager Spalletti stated that the team aims to incorporate new elements in the new season and eliminate the inconsistencies and slumps that lead to losses.
In their previous friendly match, Juventus defeated Ligue 1 side Nice 2-0 thanks to goals from Douglas Luiz and Oboavudou.
Juventus coach Spalletti said, "Many people ask me about tactics, but football is essentially a sport that emphasizes a collective attitude and team spirit. A match is like an empty box that needs to be constantly filled with different things. Focusing on only one aspect will not bring about a truly decisive change."
"The game is played by 11 players, and our performance depends on how much each player can contribute to the team."
Spalletti, from Italy, became Juventus' manager last October and led the team to a 6th place finish in Serie A and a European qualification spot in the 2025/26 season.
Spalletti stated, "Our goal is to build on the positive results we achieved last season. We have proven time and again that we can play exciting, modern, and effective football. This is where we begin anew. We hope to continue to improve ourselves, constantly add new elements to the team, and, more importantly, eliminate the ups and downs that caused us to drop points."
Furthermore, when discussing the upcoming match against Chelsea, led by new manager Xabi Alonso, Spalletti said, "I expect it to be a very difficult game. Chelsea is a top team with an excellent manager. Xabi Alonso had a brilliant playing career and has a deep understanding of football."
"Judging from their recent performances, we can already see the strength and depth of this team. This will be a real test for us, but it is precisely in games like this that we can prove our strength."
Spalletti also stated, "The new season is just around the corner, and we don't have time to slowly find our form. We must perform at our best from the very beginning and use the top European teams as our benchmark."
