In the recently concluded US preseason tour, 19-year-old Liverpool youngster Trey Nyoni made appearances in all three matches.
Facing new head coach Andoni Iraola, the young player has shown great ambition, hoping to make it into the first team's regular rotation in the 2026-27 season through his efforts in the summer.
In an interview with Liverpool's official website, Nioni spoke about his mentality and goals: "I know I still have a lot to improve, so I did a lot of targeted training this summer to try to be in top form when I return for preseason. Although I feel pretty good so far, I still need to keep improving in every game."
Liverpool defeated Sunderland and Wrexham during their trip to the United States, but in their final match against Leeds United, despite taking a 2-0 lead at halftime thanks to goals from Wirtz and others, they were ultimately defeated 4-2 by their opponents.
Reflecting on the tour's performance and gains, Nioni added: "In the last game, we lost our way a bit in the second half, but everyone is still learning and adapting to the new tactical system."
"The team has welcomed a new head coach and new players, and building team chemistry through the tour is the most important thing. The support from the fans here is fantastic, and we deeply feel their love."
