Coventry City officially triggered Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth's buy-out clause..

Coventry City announced on their official website on Tuesday that they have triggered Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth's buy-out clause.

According to Coventry City's official statement, Rushworth signed on a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030.

After completing his transfer procedures, Rushworth, who was interviewed by the Coventry City official website again, said: "I'm really happy, I have so many feelings."

"I'm incredibly excited, finally able to relax because it's all over, I'm back with my teammates, back to the club I love so much."

"I'm delighted to be starting a new chapter in the Premier League, to be able to call this place my home, it means so much to me, it's something I've always dreamed of."

"Seeing the fans' enthusiasm, knowing I can finally play in front of them again, and even participate in a few preseason games, it's been incredibly exciting. I can't wait to experience the atmosphere of our first home game since returning to the Premier League after 25 years. It's going to be incredible."

"So many feelings, so many emotions, it's hard to put into words, but I'm ready for a new chapter."

About Carl Rushworth

The 25-year-old Rushworth was born on July 2, 2001, in Halifax, England. He is 1.88 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Rushworth played for Huddersfield Town's youth academy during his childhood. After being released in 2017, he joined the youth academy of his hometown club, Halifax Town, before joining Brighton two years later.

Upon becoming a member of the Seagulls, Rushworth was immediately promoted to the first-team, but was subsequently loaned-out in the summer of 2019.

From then until the first half of 2025, Rushworth played on-loan at Worthing, Walsall, Lincoln City, Swansea City, and Hull City.

In the summer of 2025, Rushworth was loaned-out to Coventry City.

Last season, Rushworth made 46 appearances for the newly promoted Premier League side in all competitions, conceding 45 goals and keeping one clean sheet, helping them win the EFL Championship title.
