August 6 - The Boston Celtics officially announced that they have signed Dillon Mitchell, the 40th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft , to a two-way contract.
In this year's Las Vegas Summer League, the 2.03-meter-tall Mitchell averaged 13.0 points, 2.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game, while shooting 37.5% from three-point range .
In recent years, the Celtics have focused on developing tall, young defensive players with the ability to switch on defense. The growth of players like Jordan Walsh and Hugo Gonzalez has made the team even more fond of this type of forward.
After signing a two-way contract, Mitchell will have the opportunity to travel between the Celtics and their affiliate, Maine Celtics, gaining experience through games. He becomes the Celtics' second player on a two-way contract, the other being center Amari Williams .
