Genoa officially announced the signing of Djibril Sow, and the player has officially joined the team.

Genoa have officially announced the permanent transfer of Swiss midfielder Djibril Sow. All formalities with Sevilla have been completed, and the player, after successfully passing his medical examination, has signed a long-term contract with Genoa. The midfielder, who recently represented Switzerland in the World Cup, will officially begin a new chapter in his Serie A career.  

Born on February 6, 1997, the 29-year-old Djibril Sow is a key member of the Swiss national team. To date, he has made 56 appearances for the national team, participating in two World Cups and one European Championship, accumulating extensive international experience.  

At the club level, Guibril Sow has played for Borussia Mönchengladbach, Young Boys, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Sevilla, accumulating extensive experience in major European leagues. During his time at Young Boys, he helped the team win the Swiss Super League title for two consecutive seasons. After moving to Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2021/22 season, he helped the team win the Europa League, adding another important honor to his career.  

To date, Guibril Sow has made 421 appearances in all official competitions for the youth and first teams, contributing 30 goals and 39 assists. Since joining Sevilla in 2023, he has played 87 La Liga matches for the team, scoring 8 goals and demonstrating consistent form.  

Speaking about the signing, Genoa's Chief Football Officer, Diego Lopez, said: "Dibrill Sow possesses a wealth of experience and a mature level of play, along with excellent tactical understanding and the ability to cover the entire field. He is a well-rounded midfielder capable of both attacking and defending, and we believe he will have a positive impact on the team. We are very pleased to welcome him to Genoa. Speaking about his feelings after joining Genoa, Djibril Sow said: "After gaining a wealth of experience in the Swiss and German leagues, I hope to come to Serie A to take on new challenges. The competition here is very fierce, and we still have many goals to achieve. I am fully prepared and hope to start my new chapter at Genoa in the best possible condition."
