Gentle Mates has officially retired from the CS2 scene; the original roster will continue competing under the name Iberian Soul.

French esports club Gentle Mates announced on Friday that it is officially withdrawing from the CS2 scene, effective immediately.

In a statement released on the X platform, Gentle Mates briefly stated: "Our adventure in CS2 has come to an end. A chapter has closed, and we thank our players, staff, and everyone who has supported us."

In 2025, Gentle Mates acquired the Spanish team Iberian Soul, using this as a springboard to enter the CS2 scene. They have achieved considerable success in Tier 2 tournaments, winning the Istanbul LAN 2026 and CCT 2026 European Series Season 2 championships to date.

However, Gentle Mates has consistently failed to make a breakthrough in higher-level tournaments. They have competed in IEM Rio de Janeiro, ESL Pro League, PGL Bucharest, and PGL Astana, but have been eliminated in the group stage of each event.

With Gentle Mates' retirement from CS2, the original roster of his team will continue to compete under the name Iberian Soul. They are currently vying for a spot in the 2026 Esports World Cup through offline open qualifiers.
