Coventry City announced on Friday the formal signing of Ghanaian midfielder Kleb Irenki from Nordsjælland. The two sides signed a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.
Other reports indicate that the base fee for this transfer is €27 million. If add-ons are included, Coventry City could pay up to €30 million.
The 20-year-old Irenki grew up in Ghana's Dream Power youth academy and joined Nordsjælland on a free transfer in January 2024. On September 20 of the same year, at the age of 18, he made his professional debut for Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga.
To date, Irenki has played for Nordsjælland for three seasons. During this time, he has made 56 appearances in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 8 assists.
Based on his outstanding performance at the club level, Irenki has been selected for the Ghanaian national team since May 2025. To date, he has made 15 appearances for Ghana, contributing 2 goals.
After completing the transfer, Irenki said: "I am very happy to be joining this club. I had heard a lot about Coventry City and was very excited about it."
"After communicating with the head coach, I really like his proposed team plans and tactical style. I also look forward to learning from him."
“I want to show the best to the team every day. I am still young, so I hope to learn from the head coach and other players and give my all for the team.”
“I’ve also heard about the Coventry City fans. They’re fantastic, and I can’t wait to meet them.”
