Official: Former Barcelona star Sergi Roberto joins LA Galaxy as a free agent.

Los Angeles Galaxy announced on Saturday that Como midfielder Sergi Roberto has joined the club on a free transfer. The two sides signed a contract until June 30, 2028, with the club having an option to extend the contract until the 2028/2029 season.

Roberto's move to the LA Galaxy also means he will reunite with his former Barcelona teammate Ricky Pucci. Starting next season, he will play alongside stars such as Marco Reus, Irving Lozano, and Kyogo Furuhashi in MLS.

Regarding the signing, LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz stated, "Serge possesses leadership, technical ability, tactical intelligence, and championship experience, which is rare among other players. He was a key member of one of the greatest teams of his generation, and he not only understands how to win but also what makes a championship team. Serge's character, versatility, and leadership are invaluable assets to us. We are delighted to welcome him and his family to the LA Galaxy."

The 34-year-old Roberto came through the La Masia youth academy and made his first-team debut on November 10, 2010, in the second leg of the Copa del Rey Round of 32. He played for Barcelona for 14 seasons, making 373 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing 43 assists, winning two Champions League titles, one Club World Cup, seven La Liga titles, one UEFA Super Cup, six Copa del Rey titles, and five Spanish Super Cup titles with the club.

In August 2024, Roberto joined Como as a free agent. To date, he has made 37 appearances for Como, contributing one goal and one assist.
