La Liga president Javier Tebas called for FIFA president Gianni Infantino to resign.

La Liga president Javier Tebas Medrano recently spoke out publicly, stating that the position of current FIFA president Gianni Infantino is unsustainable and accusing his management style of undermining the foundation of football.

In a media interview, Tebas expressed strong dissatisfaction with the current state of FIFA. He stated, "For me, the era of Infantino is long over."

"His projects not only failed to promote the development of football, but also undermined the most fundamental basis of the sport—the domestic leagues in various countries."

Tebas emphasized that the development of football must not be limited to a small elite group; the top management must undergo genuine systemic reform. He added, "I hope this change is not just about replacing a few managers, but a complete overhaul. The only suspense now is when he will step down and how the succession process will proceed."

Recently, Gianni Infantino has been embroiled in controversy over allegations of secretly selling World Cup shares to private capital. Although the plan was ultimately scrapped, his refusal to step down sparked a united boycott from various sectors of European football.

Currently, UEFA has made it clear that it will no longer support Infantino, and the national football associations of Norway and other countries have also withdrawn their letters of recommendation for his re-election. There are even reports that European teams may boycott FIFA-affiliated competitions.

In response to calls for his removal from European football, FIFA issued an official statement refuting the allegations, accusing opponents of attempting to achieve political goals through disinformation and smear campaigns, and emphasizing that Infantino still enjoys broad support from member associations outside of Europe.
